Residents of Fort St. John can look forward to another High on Ice Winter Festival.The premier winter event is confirmed to take place from Jan. 13-16, 2011. The festival’s featured event -the professional ice carving competition- will bring in carvers from all around the world to compete. This is the only competition in B.C. sanctioned by the National Ice Carving Association.- Advertisement -The tournament is set to get a bit brighter, as this year will mark the first year that colours can be used in competitor’s sculptures.The theme of this year’s competition will be “Land of Myth and Legend.”Other attractions of the festival will include a snow sculpting event, an amateur ice carving competition, sleigh rides and an ice fishing derby.Also making a comeback will be the ever popular ice slides.Advertisementlast_img
