Share The semi-final round of the Ministry of Education and National Bank Primary School Math Power Quiz was held this afternoon at the St. Martin’s High School in which eight schools participated.There were two segments of the competition occuring simultaneously and three rounds in each segment.Each school comprised of a team of two students while a teacher read the mathematical problems to them. They were allotted one minute to solve the problems and display their answer.In the first segment The St. Mary’s Primary, Convent Prepartory, St. Martin’s Primary and Mahaut Primary schools competed and in the second segment were the Goodwill Primary, Massacre Primary, Morne Prosper, and Roseau Primary School.The St. Mary’s Primary won that segment with 49 points, Convent Prepartory second with 33 points, Mahaut Primary third with 21 points and St. Martin’s Primary fourth with 16 points.In the other segment the Goodwill Primary School won with 37 points while the Massacre Primary came second with 27 points, the Roseau Primary 26 points and the Morne Prosper Primary 0 points.The finalist for the Math Power Contest are the Wesley Primary, Atkinson Primary, Goodwill Primary, Colihaut Primary, St Mary’s Primary and the Tete Morne Primary which will take place 18th May, 2011 from 10:00am at the Arawak House of Culture.[album id= 29 template =extend]Dominica Vibes Newscenter_img Share EducationLocalNewsPrimary Semi-final round of the Ministry of Education Math Power Contest by: – May 5, 2011 33 Views   no discussionslast_img read more

first_imgAurora, IN—Hillforest Victorian House Museum takes on the nostalgic feeling of Christmas past as the 1855 home is adorned in traditional holiday greenery and decor.  Hillforest was home to industrialist and financier Thomas Gaff and his family from 1855 to 1926 and is a prime example of Italianate architecture. The home was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1992 and has been open as a house museum serving the touring public since 1956. Located at 213 Fifth Street, Aurora, Indiana, Hillforest offers visitors a glimpse of the lifestyle of a wealthy family living in the Victoria era.  Guided tours featuring the Christmas decorations are available Tuesday – Sunday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.  November 20 – December 29.  Last tour begins at 4:30 p.m.   Hillforest will close Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.A Peppermint Tea for kids and adults is scheduled Saturday, November 23 at 11:00 a.m.  Guestx will tour Hillforests Christmas exhibit , enjoy a peppermint themed tea, and make a fun craft to take home.  Reservations are required.  Cost:  Adults $25, Hillforest members $20, kids 12 and under $15. On Sunday, December 8, Hillforest will host its annual Victorian Christmas Open House from 1:00-5:00 p.m.  Featured are costumed docents, holiday refreshments, and periodic entertainment.  Admission is 14-up, $10, Students 7-13, $4, and children 6 and under is free.  Hillforest is offering Downton Abbey followers a special experience with the Return of the Downton Abbey Holiday Teas scheduled December 3, 5, and 7 beginning at 1:00 p.m.  The event includes a tour of the museum and Downton inspired three-course tea served in the elegant Hillforest parlors.  Cost is $30.00 for Hillforest members and $35.00 for non-members.last_img read more
